Assassin's Creed 3 Review

http://almostnerdy.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/assassins_creed_3.jpg
Assassin's Creed is a series that have taken us across many time periods in history and across the world. But how did the setting of the American Revolution fit the latest game in the series, Assassin's Creed 3? (Warning the review below does have SPOILERS for the game)

From the start of the game you can tell there have been several improvements to the series that needed to happen to properly get the feel of Colonial America, such as weather, the inability to kill civilians, and wildlife. Although these are nice additions they don't add that much to the game, besides one main mission early on, a could side missions and trading there is really no need to hunt it the game at all.

A big short coming of the game is the lack of an actual conclusion to the revolution. you take part in important battles and events for the revolution like Bunker Hill, Boston Tea Party, Paul Reveer's ride, and the Boston Massacre but then never have the conclusion of the British surrendering or seeing Washington become president, it's implied that the war is over but why weren't we officially show that? I know we all know what really happened in history but showing were Connor was when America official became a country would have been a nicer conclusion to his story then just that he killed the Templars he needed to.

The game overall is huge, many side missions and collectables to keep you busy even after the main story is finished, and the environment is huge with 4 large areas you can explore (not including sea missions).

The game play is exactly what you'd expect from an Assassin's Creed game but with a few nice additions such as being able to climb on trees and new weapons and combat moves that make it more diverse then previous installments. However, as fun as sailing looked in the demos for the the game this is really where the game play gets annoying. The camera never seems to be in the right place and the winds and waves change so  often that sailing becomes a hassle. Playing as Desmond as well was either fun and unique or a boring distraction from the part of the game you actually want to be playing.

The multiplayer for the game is fun, for a little while but gets boring and repetitive real fast and gives you no benefits or bonuses what so ever, so in the end it just went unplayed and stayed in the case.

Finally the ending of the game with Desmond is very dumb, I won't ruin it for anyone but he was given two choices and basically picked one that will most likely screw over the next game or will make it very strange to say the least.

Overall the game is a great game, graphics are pretty good, and it will keep you enterained long after you finish the game. However several glitches and story moment keep it from being a truely great game.

So should you buy the game? Yes if you are a fan of the series otherwise I'd say just rent it.

Assassin's Creed 3 gets 4 founding fathers out of 5.

Kick-Ass 2 Photo and Marvel movies news

This week we have for the first officially released photo from Kiss-Ass 2 and some news from X-men: Days of Future Past and Amazing Spider-man 2.

First off we have the first released photo for Kick-Ass 2 showing Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes, who is the leader of the superhero group Justice Forever. Do you think Kick-Ass is looking to join Justice Forever or will they end up being a pain in his Ass? Kick-Ass 2 opens June 28.

News came out not too long ago for The Amazing Spider-man 2 that they cast Chronicle star Dane DeHaan as Harry Osborn, Peter's best friend and son of Norman Osborn (aka the Green Goblin). Now that news isn't the big until this next bit is added in... At the Sundance Film Festival The director of the film he had been working on, John Krokidas, was introducing the cast of the film and when he got to DeHaan, he mentioned "He's the Green Goblin," and DeHaan smiled. Now does this confirm that he will become the Green Goblin like Harry has in the comics so many times before or was he just playing a little joke? Only time will tell.

Final bit of news this week is that Wolverine himself Hugh Jackman, was confirmed to be appearing in the upcoming sequel to X-Men: First Class, X-men: Days of Future Past. The film involves a tone of time travel so there will be a lot of cameos from the previous X-Men movies. Hugh Jackman had this to say in an interview with the Daily Mail, "Every other actor who’s ever put on a superhero uniform will be in it." Who do you want to see return for the film?

Well that's it for this week's Superhero Sunday, but make sure to like us on Facebook, follow us on Twitter and now subscribe to our channel on YouTube, we plan to start making videos next week so get ready for that! Peace!

Top 5 Epic Rap Battles of History Season 1

http://www.threatormenace.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/epic-rap-battles.jpg

If you haven't watched Epic Rap Battles of History before you need to go to their channel on YouTube and start watching, they are one of the most entertaining channels on YouTube. To help you out on your viewing experience this week's Top 5 Friday picks the best ERB has put out to in their first season of their "show" for you.

5. Billy Mays VS. Ben Franklin - Both impressions were spot on, it has a good beat, and this line just rocks "call me Aurthur Miller son cause it's death of salesman!"

4. Justin Bieber VS. Beethoven - It's fairly clear they made the video for Beethoven to win but hey that's what everyone wanted anyway. Plus using Fur Elise as the beat was an awesome touch, best line : "You wanna trade blows? You can't even hit puberty!"

3. Mr. T VS. Mr. Rodgers - NicePeter's performance is this one is what really makes it he does a great job of capturing the kind but creepiness of Mr. Rodger, and I love the line "I've taught a whole world full of children I can tell you call yourself T cause you're too dumb to spell"

2. Einstein VS. Steven Hawking -  This rap just all around clever and fun, from auto-tune Hawkings to a cameo from Carl Sagen simply great. Best line "I'm as dope as two rappers you better be scared cause that means Albert E equals M C squared!"

And the number 1 Epic Rap Battle of History for Season 1 is.....

Darth Vader VS. Adolf Hitler - This is the rap that got ERB to the glory is has today, it wasn't there first, but it for sure has the best of season 1. I mean it was good enough that fans demanded a second one! Best line is either: "So many dudes been with your mom who even knows if I'm your Father?" or "I am Adolf Hitler commander of the third Reich, little known fact: also dope on the mic!"

Well that's if for this week guys be sure to like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter! Peace out!

The Hobbit An Unexpected Journey: Review

http://nerdbastards.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/The-Hobbit-An-Unexpected-Journey-Wallpapers-3.jpg

Peter Jackson has returned to Middle Earth to tell J.R.R. Tolkien's story that set-up the Lord of the Rings. It has been in theaters for awhile now but most theaters should still have it showing. But the question is was this adaptation any good?

The Hobbit is a great movie, however the pace near the beginning of the film was so slow that you could have run to the next theater over watched half of that movie, then ran back and they still would have been discussing in Bilbo's house. That's not to say it's not a good story, it's a great one but don't go expecting the constant action of Lord of the Rings. If you read the book (which I did) before you go see the movie these parts are more interesting and sets up a lot of what happens in Lord of the Rings, but for first timers to the story it might be hard to bare. The acting, costumes, music, sets and scenery are amazing, in fact the movie over all is visually stunning.  The only problem I saw with visuals is Jackson's use of CGI has definitely increased since Lord of the Rings which makes some characters look too fake for my liking (Gorkil the Goblin King in particular). The problem with this movie simply is that because Jackson set the Hobbit up to be a trilogy again this one is mainly setting up for the next two which will definitely have a faster pace (I hope). However by the end of the movie it's just as good as Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies, but as I said, it's at the end so just as the plot picks up we have to wait for the next part.

So should you go see The Hobbit? Yes you should, but if you are new to the story be prepared for a very slow beginning for an almost 3 hour movie...

I give the Hobbit 4.5 Dwarves out of 5 if you read the book and 3.5 if you haven't.

More Photos and News!

Hey guys this week we have new photos from Man of Steel, Iron Man 3 and The Wolverine as well as news from the upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. TV show, a CW Wonder Woman show and Batman news!

So here we see Superman being taken in by what looks like the Air Force and/or Army, how do you think he will get out of this? Earn their trust or break out?

Not too much revealed in this Iron Man 3 photo except for a look at the new gold armor. However, notice he's wearing the armor casually inside do you think this could be a display of a pre-extremis armor?

Finally another new photo for The Wolverine, unlike last time however his claws are definitely adamantium, so was the last photo just a bad angle or a flashback?

(These photos curtsey of Film Thrasher)

http://nerdbastards.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/The-Avengers-Agent-Coulson.jpg
Also news for the upcoming SHIELD TV show, the show is set after the events of the Avengers film, no big deal right? Well until you factor in the fact that Clark Gregg will be reprising his role as Agent Phil Coulson for the show, who as you know, (*SPOILER ALERT*) died in The Avengers. Does this mean Coulson was a life model decoy? Did he not actually die? Or will he appear simply for a flashback? Only time will tell.

http://media.comicvine.com/uploads/0/40/2727964-wonder_woman_new_52.jpeg
The CW has announced plans for a new show Amazon which will follow a young Diana before she became Wonder Woman. The CW says the show could possibly exist in the same universe as their other show Arrow and could also be connected to the Justice League movie. Do you think this is the way D.C. should go to introduce their characters in a show leading up to the Justice League movie unlike doing films like Marvel?

http://leviathyn.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/batman-and-catwoman-from-arkham-city.jpg
Finally Warner Bros. has recently registered several domain names centered around Batman and Arkham including arkhamuniverse.com (Arkham Universe) and batmanarkhamlegends.com (Batman Arkham Legends) so do you think this is setting up for a new Arkham video game or a movie based off the highly successful games?

Top 5 Superhero Movies (That need to be made)

Superhero movies lately are huge turnouts for fans of all ages to go to theaters but which ones need to be made? This list answers exactly that. Keep in mind the list was made with the knowledge of movies that are already going to be coming out for example The Justice League movie isn't on here because it's coming out summer 2015.

http://media-cache-ec5.pinterest.com/upload/40673202855188578_P9s99I0v_b.jpg5. Martian Manhunter - He's basically the Martian Superman so crazy over powered but sometimes it fun to watch a hero that can't be beat. However, with this also means he will have to fight a very powerful villain. I say even tie it in with Mars Rover for the movie to give it a semi-real life feel. Overall this movie would just be fun to watch and a break from the Human heroes we are used to (well minus Thor and Superman...).

http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/048/4/b/iron_fist___luke_cage_cover_by_007jr-d39qn3b.jpg4. Heroes for Hire - Iron Fist and Luke Cage, do I really need to say more than that? They are two heroes that aren't extremely over powered yet still kick a lot of ass. Their movie would also be a great way to set up some of the evil organizations or lesser known villains in the Marvel Universe as well like the Hood or A.I.M.  Finally set them up for an Avengers spot and the movie would be gold.

http://www.rainerpetter.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/Flash_colorsjpg.jpg3. The Flash - He's the Justice League's comic relief and probably DC's greatest chance at another blockbuster hero to follow. Plus he's Batman's best friend so of course he's bad ass. They need to get an actor who can be comedic and an action hero, in my mind their safest bet is either Ryan Reynolds or Bradley Cooper. Just think of how fun it would be to see him fight Gorilla Grodd on the big screen.

http://sniktbub.wdfiles.com/local--files/file:dr-strange-by-yamao/dr_strange_by_yamao.jpg2. Dr. Strange - People for the most part took the magic in Thor well so it's time for an all magic hero, who better then the Sorcerer Supreme himself? Think of the powers he brings too. The best thing about having strange in a movie is the worlds he opens up. Think about it Dormammu or Mephisto as a villain, possibly even for an Avengers 3 or 4,  hell yeah I'd buy tickets the day it was announced.

And the #1 Superhero movie that needs to be made is.....

http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110314222758/deadpool/images/a/a9/Deadpool-deadpool-8638507-900-1213.jpg1. Deadpool - Who else could it be? He's funny, he's awesome and he can break the 4th wall (can you even imagine the fun they can have with that in a theater setting?). Ryan Reynolds did an ok job in the Wolverine movie but he needs to be a bit more crazy to perfectly pull it off. The only way this movie couldn't do well is if they butcher the character like they did in the Wolverine movie, otherwise this is just movie gold.

New photos, and Thor: The Dark World News

Hey everybody and welcome to the first addition of Superhero Sunday, this week we have several interesting bits of information coming from up coming Superhero titles.

First up we have two new photos from The Man of Steel and The Wolverine:

(Looks like my theory about a Government investigation was right)

(Correct me if I'm wrong, but in this shot at least, his claws look bone-like again...interesting)

Also revealed were the first shots of Firefly the Batman villain who will be appearing on an upcoming episode of the CW's show Arrow.

(No mask?)

Finally news for Thor: The Dark World came from Lady Sif herself Jamie Alexander who said this time around the movie will explore the Sif/Thor relationship more than the first movie and that this film will have more of a dark tone than the first film. What this means for Jane Foster and Thor's fate so far is still speculation. Thor: The Dark World is set to release November 8, 2013.

Well there you have it folks lots of news today, sound off what you think in the comments below, on our Facebook page or on Twitter!

Optimus Prime Vs. The Hulk: Results!

We asked in a battle between Optimus Prime and The Hulk who would win? Well the results are in so the question is now, who won the battle between Machine and Monster?

http://filebox.vt.edu/users/midavis1/images/question-mark.jpg

The winner who received 100% of votes from our poll was...

http://themovieblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/the-hulk.jpg The Hulk!

How: Optimus is a skilled and powerful fighter, however most of his weapons are projectiles that wouldn't be able to pierce the Hulk's durable flesh, also the Hulk's unmeasurable strength would allow him to easily crush and rip off part's of Optimus's machine body.

Just a reminder to everyone this is the final battle until February when we start our video blog on YouTube so keep an eye out for that. However I am still looking for your input on who you want to see fight so feel free to still suggest those.

Making Changes

Hey guys I just wanted to let you all know I took the week off from posting new content due to the New year but I will start back up this Saturday with the results of Optimus Prime VS. The Hulk.

http://gravyboy.com/brianshearer/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/HULKvsOPTIMUS.jpg

However, I am making a few changes, I am postponing the fights until after the vlog starts up in February when we hopefully get a bigger fan base (right now basically 2 people vote so the results of each fight, so it's not necessarily a fair choice of who the people think would win) in it's place on Sundays I will have an article focusing on Superhero New, Rumors or Gossip. Mondays will now be either be general nerdy topics, Minecraft Mondays (in which you can submit your creations, i may submit some of my own or creative ideas from the web) or updates on the blog or vlog. Finally Top 5 Fridays will remain the same.

http://blog.gcawood.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/minecraft_logo_desktop_by_eebvoom-d3eews1.jpg

So in short, days to check back here are Sundays, Mondays and Fridays now, however I will post things that I think are worthy of sharing on our Facebook page or on Twitter on any day (for those of you who haven't liked or followed us yet you get a lot more info from me if you do).

Thanks and Happy Nerdy New Year!
