With the release of the Nintendo's new console there are many ways this new system could head, here are my top 5 hopes for the console to make it a must have.
5. Better online gaming - Lets be honest the online for the Wii sucked. Why did they think numbers were the best way to go? The Wii U needs to add gamertags it's easy and has worked for years. Let players talk as well I know that opens the door to trolls and annoying kids' voices in your living room but at least give us the option. Also connectivity needs to be faster and last on the Wii it was just a pain most of the time.
4. HD Remakes- I know sometimes it's a lazy excuse instead of making an entirely new game but some games that were released before on a Nintendo console are timeless and an HD remake would bring them back, and sell well. N64, and SNES were their best consoles, and possibly best of all time, there is no shame in trying to bring them back. Ocarina of Time did very well for the 3DS I can't see how doing this for the Wii U and it's now HD graphics could hurt the company at all. HD remake of Majora's Mask or Mario RPG would make so much money.
3. Hardcore Games - Nintendo has spent years making it self the family and kid friendly console, but it needs to catch up. The top games that sell now are M-rated games. Nintendo needs to not be afraid to make these kind of games, I know they announced they would but they need to do this with their own games as well. An M-rated Metroid game? Yeah that would make sense. Now I'm not saying everyone of their games need to be M or violent but the ones that it would make sense should be.
2. Utilize Franchises - Nintendo has more power with it's franchises then Microsoft and Sony combined. Their problem is they don't utilize them well, they keep shoving Mario down our throats and get lazy and release a sub-par Zelda game instead of the power house the series is. Wii new needs, a Star Fox game, an HD Zelda (getting sick of the cartoon Zelda), a Smash Bros. game and a solid Metroid title. These games can get people to buy the console I don't get why Nintendo doesn't get that. Launch would have been huge if they lead with one of these games but instead we'll just have to wait.
And my #1 hope for the Wii U is...
1. Bring back lost Franchises- Nintendo over the years has lost some of the third party companies that made awesome games for them , part of this is due to the fact that they didn't want to make their game over again to support the motion controls of the Wii or that they went out of business. If Nintendo looked back at those franchises and brought them back it would do so well for them. Banjo Kazooie? Earthworm Jim? Bomberman? That would give me enough reason to buy the console without any hesitation.
What hopes do you have for the Wii U or the other next gen consoles, let us know in the comments or on the Facebook page! Have a great weekend see you all Monday!

Darth Vader VS. Lord Voldemort
The battle of the Dark Lords!
Who would win in a fight between the dark lord of the Sith and he who shall not be named?
To help you all decide who would win here are very brief descriptions of each combatant:
Darth Vader: Born Anakin Skywalker a slave with no father and , with a high midichlorian count, was taken in by Qui-Gon Jinn and later trained in the ways of the Force by Obi-Won Kenobi. Fear and hatred however lead Anakin to the Dark Side of the force, thus making him Darth Vader. A few robotic limbs and severe burns put Vader in the suit that sustains his life and tends to his wounds. He is the apprentice and second in command of the Galactic empire to the Emperor Palpatine himself . Vader later killed his master, thus bringing balance to the force and ending the rule of the Empire.
Weapons of Choice: Lightsaber, the Force and his personal TIE Advance x1 Starfighter.
X-Factor: Relentless: (Willing to hurt himself if it means killing his opponent).
Minions: Stormtroopers, Bounty Hunters, and Imperial Guards.
Lord Voldemort: Born Tom Marvolo Riddle to a Muggle father and who's witch mother died shortly after his birth, he was sent to an orphanage at a young age. As he grew up he realized he had special powers and eventually attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where he was the top student in the school. Tom however embraced the Dark Arts and took on the persona of Lord Voldemort with the intention to slave Muggles and have magic folk rule the world. He also created Horcruxes to prevent himself from dying permanently, only after they were destroyed he would truly die.
Weapons of Choice: Yew Phoenix Feather Core wand, Various Curses, Spells and Charms.
X-Factor: Horcruxes (He can't die unless they are all destroyed)
Minions: Death Eaters, Giants, and Spiders.
To vote for who you thin would win chick Here to go to the Facebook page and submit your vote as well as vote for who you'd like to see next week. The Results of this fight will be posted Wednesday!

Blog Expansion
Hey guys, I hope you all had a great weekend and Thanksgiving for my mainly U.S. readers (I do currently have two views from Germany)!
Over the holiday I had some thoughts on ways to improve the blog and I came to the conclusion that the blog needs more reader feedback. I brainstormed why it is that there has only been one comment, and I realized that the blog isn't that easily accessible.
To fix this problem I decided I would make Nerdy Nuances it's own Facebook page, that way it will be easy to find, easy to subscribe to and I can share things with you guys easily.
I also have planned to add a new segment "Throw down Thursdays" this will be a typical who would win in a fight segment that will be run by fan votes. I will hold the polls on the new Facebook page, the poll will run from when it is posted on that Thursday and will stay open till Wednesday of the following week. So each Thursday after this one I will post who won last week and the new match-up.
Don't worry though the blog is not dead, in fact I will still post all articles on here (only links to the article will be posted on the Facebook page) and for the fights I will have additional info on the fighters each week (hopefully this will help you decide who would actually win in a fight not just who is your favorite).
I hope this spices things up a bit, I do still have many plans to come.

Top 5 Nerdy Things I'm Thankful For
Happy (day after) Thanksgiving Everyone!
In honor of Thanksgiving I thought it would be appropriate for Top 5 Friday to list what nerdy things I'm most thankful for.
5. The Internet - I know it's not strictly a nerdy thing but for me it's a great tool to catch up on my nerd knowledge and of course this blog. From ign to geekologie these sites help make me the nerd I am today and for that I'm truly thankful.
4. Batman - I could have said D.C. but in all honesty most of my respect for them boils down to Batman or the Flash, but Batman is what makes D.C. worth while. I'm thankful for Batman because he's entertained me basically since birth (damn straight I had the Batman pj's) so I couldn't help but salute the Dark Knight.
3. Video Games - Video games of all kinds have fascinated me for as long as I can remember. Every Saturday I used to play SNES all day with my father, a memory I'll never forget, and I've been a gamer ever since, so how can I not be Thankful for all those memories, to games everywhere thank you!
2. Marvel Comics - Marvel has been a bonding point for me for years. Movies, games, and the comics themselves have been the topic of many debates and conversations of mine for countless years, without them I might not have had the friends I have now or even started this blog. Marvel you've got it and for that I'm eternally thankful.
And the number one nerdy thing I'm thankful for is...
1. Star Wars - This is were it all began...this is how the nerd i am today was formed. I was raised on Star Wars and have loved it ever since. My girlfriend had to watch Star Wars after we met, all my friends have at least a mild respect for it, I own a lightsaber umbrella for crying out loud. Besides the modern era of Star Wars (I.E. The Clone Wars) there isn't any reason I shouldn't be thankful for and I always will be for probably the rest of my life.
Well there it is the nerdy things I'm thankful for. Let me know what nerdy things you are thankful for in the comments below. Have a great weekend everyone and see you Monday!

Wreck-It Ralph Review
I know, two Disney posts in a row crazy, don't worry this isn't becoming a Disney only blog.
It was only a matter of time till Disney ventured their way into the world of video games and Wreck-It Ralph does a pretty good of representing that world.
The Good: There are video game references everywhere if you really wanna see them all you would have to see it more than once (There are so many in the "Game Central Station Area" and they go by real fast). This is where Disney does it right everything from Pong to Metal Gear Solid get's at least a nod in this film, and it made it almost a game to try and see them all. Sarah Silverman's character Vanellope von Schweetz steals the show though, she's such a fun, lovable, goofy character that you can't help but like and her and Ralph's friendship becomes the main force for the movie, causing you to care for them both rather than just Ralph. The movie also excels in the way Disney usually does with young Humor and of course a moral lesson in the end.
The Bad: Wreck-It Ralph however, does fall short in regards of variety. When I first saw the trailer for this movie I expected Ralph to be jumping through a ton of games but in the movie for the most part it's only three. The movie stays in the Mario Kart rip off game "Sugar Rush" for about 2/3 of the movie and after awhile you get sick of the same sugary scene. Also the movie is very predictable and feels like Disney has slapped it's usual pattern of movies into it (If you've seen a Disney film before you'll see what I mean). Finally the ending of the film in very abrupt it builds for a long time and once you get to the end it kinda leaves you with still some questions left.
So lets cut to the chase should you see Wreck-It Ralph? Yes and you will have to see it more than once to catch all the references, but if you wait until it's out on DVD you won't be missing much.
Logan's Score: 3.75 out of 5

Top 5 Directors for Star Wars VII
Yes the big question right now who will Direct Disney's new Star Wars movie? Now just something to keep in mind this is my list of who I'd LIKE to see direct not who I think WILL direct episode 7. So here it goes...
5. Ridley Scott- Alien, Blade Runner and now Prometheus, Ridley Scott is a Sci-Fi genius. Now his tone is usually more gritty than Star Wars' style but maybe that's what the new trilogy needs, to move away from the prequels and the Clone Wars that are geared towards kids and instead make it aimed at adults. The chances of him directing is actually higher than some of the others on this list, with only Prometheus 2 on the line for him it is possible, but I strong doubt Disney will choose him to direct and likewise I doubt he'd want to.
4. Joe Johnston- In case you don't know who that is let me give you a couple hints: Captain America, Jumanji, Jurassic Park 3. Yeah that guy but his experience with those movies aren't why I picked him but rather his connection to Lucas. He worked on all three of the original trilogy movies either as an art director or designer, and Lucas himself put him through film school. He could easily capture the feeling of the original trilogy and won't let fans down. On my list he is actually the most likely to direct and honestly I wouldn't be surprised if Disney does choose him to direct.
3. Josh Whedon- The guy took four separate franchises and put them together perfectly to make the best superhero movie of the summer if not all time, not to mention his work on Firefly so sci-fi isn't out of his comfort zone. Whedon would do an amazing job with Star Wars he knows how to get the feel of different movies together, he could take what's best from each trilogy and make it seem perfect. He also could bring the little bit of humor back to Star Wars that the original trilogy had (look at the Avengers perfect balance of Action and Humor). Unfortunately he is the least likely to direct, his work with Avengers 2 and overseeing all of Marvel's phase 2 of movies, he just won't have the time to pump out two huge movies both for summer 2015, it's just not possible.
2. J.J. Abrams- I know what some of you are thinking, that's all we need lightsaber lens flares but hey Abrams is an amazing director look what he did with Star Trek. Not only did he find a way to have loyal fans love his new franchise, but he also roped in a new group of fans for Star Trek, all while making it his own. He could easily do the same for Star Wars, plus he LOVES Star Wars (He even snuck R2D2 into the Star Trek movie) so he would work his hardest to make it flawless. However, if he ditched Star Trek for Star Wars there would be a huge uproar from Trekkies so I really doubt he'll direct either, but he loves Star Wars enough for me not to count him out.
And the person who I would want to direct Star Wars VII most is.....
1. Peter Jackson- Jackson is a man of the fans and that's what Star Wars needs. Before Lord of the Rings had movies they still had a huge fan base that was uncertain when it was announced they would be making movies (much like Star Wars fans are now). But Jackson gave them the movie they were hopping for and adapted the books almost perfectly. He knows how huge a franchise like Star Wars is and would do everything in his power to make it perfect. My only consern with him is his lack of experience in the area of sci-fi but i think he could pull it off. I strongly doubt he will rush the Hobbit to do Star Wars though so right now he's just a dream.
So there it is guys my list of directors, please comment below and let me know you're ideas or thoughts on mine. Have a good weekend see you all Monday with a little review...

About yours truly
I figured what better post to start my first Monday blog then to introduce myself to all of you?
My name, if you didn't get that from the post below, is Logan, and I am a nerd. I always have been, and always will be. Now like all nerds I have my specific areas of expertise mine are as follows:
Star Wars ( Trekkies don't be frightened I believe we can coexist and should both are fantastic franchises and I watch and enjoy both, I just know more about Star Wars.)
Marvel Comics and Studios (D.C. Fans same as above I love both I just know more about Marvel)
The Beatles ( I don't know if they count as a nerdy topic but hey I know a lot about them)
Disney ( If you didn't get that from #1 & 2, however I do know a lot about the parks and movies as well)
Microsoft and Nintendo consoles and games (Sorry Playstation users I just never had one of them but I'm willing to research for the sake of discussions)
PC computers ( I use MACs as well but I'm a PC at heart, however both are very good machines in their own ways)
Well that's just a little bit of insight into some of the things I will talk about in this blog, however don't let them limit what you suggest for topics or discussions.
That's it for this Monday guys and girls, leave a comment below for suggestions, questions or feedback! See you Friday!
Welcome!
Hello all and welcome to Nerdy Nuances, a blog devoted to all things nerdy!
I'm Logan and I will be your resident blogger and author of all posts here. My goal with this blog is to create a safe place to discuss a variety of nerdy topics, comic books, movies, tv shows, music and video games are all free game here.
I plan to post a new general blog post every Monday, these posts will usually be ideas of mine, honest reviews of topics or discussions of nerdy news topics.
I also plan to post a segment I call "Top 5 Fridays" every Friday (duh), this will be my top 5 list of a specific topic and why I feel they have earned that honor (or dishonor depending on the list). I am always open to suggestions for this segment in fact I encourage it, it's more fun that way.
I do plan, however to expand content once I get more viewers, and I strongly encourage viewer feedback and ideas for topics, segments and other ideas you would like to see on here, but I do have some ideas of my own as well.
Well I hope you all enjoy the blog and feel free to leave comments!
